In Mexico, May 10th is Mother's Day and May 15th is Teacher's Day. The kids have been busy making gifts and cards for their Moms and Teachers.
Dulce brought supplies from Michoacán to make wooden spoon key holders. The children decorated them with paint, little Mexican miniature trinkets and dried flowers.
One of our older kids, Brenda, taught the kids how to make crepe paper flowers.
It was one of those weeks where the kids got busy and didn't want to stop at 5:00…..”¡Un ratito más, por favor!”

We have a great group of kids this month and they are obviously very comfortable in La Casa.
They can find their way around the craft materials, the kitchen and the books, and have a sense of pride and ownership that we so love to see.
Yesterday, Ruby, our CP girl, had a broom in her hand and was sweeping, Michele was hanging books back on the book holder,
the kitchen was sparkling clean after the cupcake project was completed. Every kid was leaving with a chocolate cupcake (although they were leaving closer to 6pm than 5pm)
with many reminders and an “hasta mañana.”
