Vacation? No way!

|
La Casa was closed for a couple of weeks due to Semana Santa , followed almost immediately by the Fiestas del Pueblo.
During this time the kids participate in religious activities in the church and a parade down the main street. The entire town is involved, and every night during this time, families celebrate with fiestas.
Different groups of either kids or adults participate in regional dances held in the central plaza. Everyone has a great time!

Now that we have slowed down into our spring pace, you'll find 15-20 kids at La Casa each day (during the winter months, there can be as many as 80 each day!).
We are having a lot of fun with our new kitchen appliances and tools. The kids have made cupcakes, mango cobbler and other goodies to eat and share with their families.
With the smaller numbers of kids in La Casa, you'll find small, intimate groups cooking, making crafts, exploring the internet,
and sitting quietly reading a book.

Special Students
We have a new special student, Ruby. She is 15 years old and has Downs Syndrome. This is one of the first times she has been able to be a part of a group of children.
She doesn't go to school. She has already benefitted by the social interaction and the other kids love to help her with learning activities.
