Visiting Teacher
 Leon Kieding
|
La Casa de los Niņos was lucky to have the assistance of Leon Kieding, a student at Santa Rosa (CA) Jr. College, for part
of September and October, who taught an hour of English each day and generally helped the kids with their craft projects and
computer questions. Leon was born in Sweden, but grew up in Arizona.
During the first part of the summer, prior to coming to Lo de Marcos, he helped disadvantaged adults in Sweden, where he also was able to visit his paternal grandfather for the first time!
Did Leon enjoy his stay? You bet he did! He made lots and lots of new friends, improved his Spanish and ate good Mexican food.
One of the high points of his trip was the catching of a 225 lb. marlin!

Getting Ready
We have been in constant email communication with friends, (returning and potential) teachers and people willing to donate time and articles to
La Casa de los Niņos.
There are so many generous and enthusiastic people who are helping us, and we sincerely thank you all.
The first returnees will be arriving at the end of October and the kids are really excited about seeing their teachers again.
While the kids have kept learning and playing, we older (old?) folks have been keeping busy, too.
Many thanks go to artist Antonella who made us 30 T-shirts, each with a different, original fantasy drawing and "La Casa de los Niņos" emblazoned on them.
We are also preparing a 2007 calendar, which should be ready for distribution in just
a couple of weeks.
Special thanks to Dulce, who has single-handedly kept the casita running, and also to Vero Maasen of El Caracol Trailer Park, who besides
providing us with ideas, books and articles for crafts, wrote all her customers promoting La Casa de los Niņos.
It's going to be a great new year!
